The Mazda SkyActiv-D Diesel engine is a strong performer. It has plenty of torque on tap.

With a little bit of “tweaking’ you can have a car with approximately 10-15% more torque.

It really does become a new car!

Tuning your Mazda SkyActiv Diesel

It is certainly not difficult these days, to flash (reprogram) the Mazda SkyActiv-D platform.

Currently, we cover the Mazda 3, 6 and CX5 SkyActiv-D 2.2L Platforms, in both 150hp and 175hp.

Listed below is all you need to have on hand to be able to interface with your car.

Windows Laptop

Any current generation laptop running Windows 7 and above will work well.

You can even use a Windows tablet that runs a full version, not windows RT.

USB Interface

You will need a USB vehicle interface to talk to the car. The most common is the Tractrix OpenPort adaptor.

If you use the VersaTuner software, you can also use the VersaLink adaptor.

Two software packages are available. VersaTuner and MazdaEdit.

My preference is to use the VersaTuner application. It is simple and easy to use.

Constant Ongoing Development

We never stop.

Development for the SkyActiv-D Platform is ongoing. With new features and capabilities being added all the time.

New files with different levels of performance are being updated and added to the collection.

You can be confident in the fact that many of us are testing and working to keep bringing you a better product.

So, how fast can a CX-5 SkyActiv-D run a 0-100kmh test..??

So, how hard is it to Flash my Mazda SkyActiv Diesel?

Surprisingly. it’s actually very simple. Especially with the package from VersaTune.

Apart from the software, you will need a vehicle interface. There are two available. My personal choice is the VersaLink (from VersaTune) as it is a very robust unit.

The other choice is the Tractrix Openport adaptor.

Installation and First Flash Tune Screencasts

To make it easy, I have created some very simple screencast videos that will help you understand how easy this process really is.
